🍞🍫 Pain au chocolat is a delicious French pastry made with crispy puff pastry and delicious bars of melting chocolate inside. It's a real treat for chocolate and pastry lovers. 😋

18 min
Preheat oven to 200°C
On a lightly floured work surface, roll out the puff pastry into a large rectangle about 3 mm thick.
Cut rectangles of dough approximately 10 cm wide and 15 cm long.
Place a chocolate bar on one of the shorter sides of the dough rectangle and roll the dough around the chocolate to wrap it completely. Repeat for each rectangle of dough and each bar of chocolate.
Place the resulting pains au chocolat on a baking tray lined with baking parchment.
Beat the egg in a small bowl and gently brush the surface of the chocolate buns with the beaten egg using a kitchen brush.
Place the pains au chocolat in the preheated oven and bake for approx. 15-20 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.
Once baked, remove the pains au chocolat from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Tip
For a tasty variation, add a touch of crushed hazelnuts to the inside of your pains au chocolat before rolling. 🌰 Not only will this add an extra crunchy texture, but it will also add a deliciously fragrant hazelnut note that pairs wonderfully with the chocolate. A simple way to take your pain au chocolat to an even more indulgent level! 🍫🥐
