Preheat oven to 200°C (gas mark 6-7). Butter and flour the madeleine mold.
Melt the butter and dark chocolate in a saucepan over low heat, stirring regularly. Leave to cool slightly.
In a bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until the mixture whitens.
Add the sifted flour and baking powder, then stir in the melted butter-chocolate mixture. Mix well.
Fill the madeleine molds 3/4 full with the dough.
Place in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes, until the madeleines are cooked. You can check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, the madeleines are ready!
Leave to cool before unmolding. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
