Peel and chop the tomatoes, onions and garlic.
In a Dutch oven, brown the vegetables with the brown sugar, cider vinegar and paprika.
Simmer over low heat for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are cooked through and the mixture is reduced.
Blend until smooth.
Pass the mixture through a fine sieve to remove any lumps.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Pour the ketchup into a sterilized glass bottle and allow to cool before storing in the fridge.
