Heat water in large saucepan. Add a pinch of salt and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain in a colander.
Heat a little olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic and sauté until translucent.
Add the minced meat to the pan and cook until browned and crumbled.
Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, sugar and red wine (if desired) and simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Meanwhile, heat the cooked pasta in the large saucepan with a drizzle of olive oil to coat.
Serve the pasta hot on individual plates, topped with Bolognese sauce and sprinkled with grated Parmesan.
