Preheat your oven to 200°C (gas mark 6-7).
Peel and quarter the apples. Remove seeds.
In a tart tin, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar and stir until caramelized. Optional: add cinnamon powder and vanilla sugar.
Arrange the apple wedges tightly in the pan. Bake for about 10 minutes, until lightly browned.
Meanwhile, spread the puff pastry over the apples, tucking the edges inside the mould.
Bake for 30 minutes, until golden and crisp.
Remove from the oven and leave to rest for a few minutes. Then, using a plate, turn the tarte Tatin over to remove from the mould.
Serve warm.
Tip
For successful unmolding, let the tart cool for a few minutes before turning it out onto the plate. This will give the caramel time to set slightly. 🍴
